Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton is a Great Falls native, a fourth generation Montanan, and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Stapleton is a smart, conservative problem-solver with a vision for a better America. He is Montana's only military veteran elected to statewide office. His commitment to Montanan’s and common-sense values haven’t wavered since the day he crossed the stage at Annapolis. He is Terry’s husband of 27 years, and the father of their four children.
Serving my country has never been a question. When I turned 17, prior to my senior year at Great Falls High, I enlisted in the Navy and entered bootcamp. Upon graduating USNA, I served 11 years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, deploying overseas aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy, and cruiser USS Hue City, the only US navy ship honoring those who served in Vietnam (used during Desert Storm).
My Montana roots have only grown deeper over the decades as I’ve had the privilege to serve my family, state, and country during these ever-changing times. My father served in the Army, and my oldest son currently serves on active duty in the Marine Corps.
Currently, I’m Montana’s only military veteran elected to statewide office.
The Naval Academy taught me well - that integrity, leadership and commitment are the tools needed to carry a vision for a better Montana, and a better America. I use a smart, conservative approach to tackling problems. I believe every solution begins with upholding basic, solid principles that affect everyday lives and livelihood.
I’m honored to have been a distinguished member of the Heritage Foundation’s Legislative Leaders Council while I served in the Montana State Senate from 2001-2009. While a Republican Senator, I championed crucial energy, natural resource, agriculture and business legislation. I received a lifetime “A” rating from the NRA, I’m Pro-Life, and have a 96% lifetime rating for the Chamber of Commerce.
Education has been instrumental in my life. I hold a B.S. degree in General Engineering from the Naval Academy, a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Temple University, and a Master of Science degree in Financial Services from The American College in Pennsylvania. I serve as financial advisor to many veterans and their families to help improve their lives.
Terry and I were high school sweethearts, and we've been married 27 years. Our whole family loves attending church together, camping, fishing, travelling. I enjoy running marathons and triathlons and attending as many of our kids activities as possible!
I'd consider it a privilege and honor to serve as your Congressman. I pledge to uphold the office with integrity, hard work, and making a better future for my children and yours alike. Together we can keep America, and Montana great! The best is truly yet to come.
